The West Virginia Artists and Craftsmen's Guild , also known as the West Virginia Art and Craft Guild or WVACG, is a non-profit membership organization , formed in 1963 by people determined to preserve and promote the creative lifestyle West Virginia as well as a standard of excellence for the creations. The Guild is proud of its forty one year tradition of being the only West Virginia state-wide independent crafts organization. WVACG depends on membership dues and participation at marketing and workshop events to provide funding for it programs. As a co-sponsor of The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair, the Guild provides working members to the board of directors of the fair. Marketing of members products takes place at this fair and other events such as the exhibit of the Guilds juried competition. A jury session is held at least once a year, usually at the state-wide meeting in the spring. Juried status is required to participate in marketing events. Educational workshops pertaining to the business of arts and crafts are held annually.
